location Kingdom Centre Theatre & Library Complex, Glenrothes,
description This dramatic tableaux set within the foyer area of a busy civic halls and theatre complex acts as an intriguing focal point for visitors and patrons. The characters represented are modelled on people who had a working relationship with the land on which the halls are built. Each character stands quietly as if in contemplation, adjacent to his own particular setting; George, the last game keeper to work on the Rothes estate, Jim, the last coal miner to go down the ill fated Rothes pit, & Donald one of the last Development Corporation gardeners to work in the town. By a strange irony, George who was well known for his expertise in dog breeding & the one time employee of the Earl of Rothes, ended up living in his master's bedroom when the mansion house became an Church eventide home. Furthermore, the Queen, who's chief gun dog handler was in fact George's son, used to visit George at the 'big house' on her way back to London from her annual holiday at Balmoral.
